Culzean Castle, Ayrshire, viewed from the sea
No-smoking policy
Please note that no smoking whatsoever is permitted within
the house. However, guests may smoke discreetly in the
garden, if they wish.
Low-alcohol policy
Please note also that only very moderate drinking is allowed
at Carlton.
The house offers a quiet, civilised, “get-away-from-it-all” atmosphere – and
this must be appreciated by our guests, at all times.
Mobility matters
Regrettably, we cannot offer disabled access of any sort
because, in 1883, Carlton was not built with this in mind.
The guest accommodation is all on the First Floor (i..e.
the floor above Ground Floor) and guests must be able to
negotiate our fine Victorian staircase.
That being said,
we frequently accommodate guests aged from nought to ninety!
Child-friendly
By prior arrangement, well-behaved children are welcome
to stay at Carlton. Our large, leafy Victorian garden is
a “magnet” for them! And, of course, our direct
beach access!
Please discuss your requirements with us, in advance.
Pet-friendly
Also by prior arrangement, well-behaved pets are welcome
to stay at Carlton. Our large garden, beach-front setting
and energetic coastal walks are particularly attractive
to dogs.
However, please note that the busy A78 road is not far
away. It is vital to keep your pets very well under control!
Please discuss with us, well in advance, your pet’s
requirements for “comfort breaks” etc.
Alas, we cannot accommodate horses at Carlton nowadays.
However, it may be possible to make a special arrangement
with one of the local farms. (Enquire within!)
